Friday Night at Chilfest is always a good night for me with last year having some great Soul and funk artists form the 80’s.
This year again did not disappoint with a line-up of Aswad, Heather Small supported by an amazing saxophonist called ‘Snake Davis’ and winding up with UB40.
Heather Small a UK Soul Singer started her career back in the 80’s/90’s where she sang with M People and Hot House releasing tracks such as ‘Moving on Up’ and ‘Search for a Hero’.
In the year 2000 she released her debut solo album ‘Proud’, since then she has released a number of tracks and worked alongside artists such as Chaka Khan. Recently however she is more well known for appearing in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The set was good with the added bonus of an amazing musician ‘Snake Davies’ who played all manor of saxophones and flute, I would go as far to say one of teh best players I have heard in a longtime and I have seen and photographed, ‘David Sanbourn’, ‘Courtney Pine’ and many other great saxophonists.
What a nice bloke too, I had a long chat with him back stage and he even gave me a copy of his latest CD. Cheers Snake 🙂
